Biomaterials in pre-clinical approaches for Engineering Skeletal Tissues

Abstract

Current treatment therapies to regenerate diseased or injured tissues are far from being the ideal solution emphasizing an urgent need for alternative strategies for tissue functional replacement.

The aim of this chapter is to gather relevant and updated scientific knowledge on recent advantages in skeletal/orthopaedic tissue engineering. The topics discussed include information from biomaterial development to translational approaches.
