The design of plastic products was done traditionally based on data obtained from standard specimens were the anisotropy was deliberately minimized. This approach can lead to substantial deviation of the predicted behavior of the parts when compared with the behavior of commercial parts. Another approach would be to study the interdependence processing-morphology-properties of moldings. The morphology is known to have direct influence upon the properties of the products and models exist to predict product properties from its morphology; This paper deals with the current possibilities of exploring those interrelationships for design with amorphous, semicrystalline and short glass fiber reinforced injection molded products.
