There is an emergent need to develop innovative, more effective and specialized release dosage forms. Thus, there is an actively seeking for more efficient and patient-compliant drug delivery devices. The main drawbacks in the current strategies are the poor drug solubility and bioavailability. Recent studies in this field highlight the potential of deep eutectic solvents. Deep eutectic solvents are defined as a mixture of two or more solid components, which at a particular molar fraction become liquid due to a high melting point depression.Therefore, this project intends to highlight the propensity of different pairs of compounds to form therapeutic deep eutectic solvents (THEDES) for pharmaceutical and /or biomedical applications.
