Rui L. Reis is the best Portuguese scientist of those listed in the prestigious Highly Cited Researchers 2024

The annual Highly Cited Researchers 2024 list from Clarivate (responsible for the Web of Science, considered the most relevant database for science) has just been published.
Congratulations to our President, Rui L. Reis, for once again being Highly Cited Researcher in the field of Cross-Field 2024, for the third consecutive year!
There are only 18 researchers listed working in Portugal. From those, Rui L. Reis, the President/Dean of I3Bs and Founding Director of the 3B's Research Group – Biomaterials, Biodegradables and Biomimetics of University of Minho is the scientist with more citations (71.272) to his work and more publications listed in Clarivate Web of Science, being also by far the highly cited scientist working in Portugal with higher h-index (120).
The highly anticipated annual list identifies researchers who demonstrated significant influence in their chosen field or fields through the publication of multiple highly cited papers during the last decade. Their names are drawn from the publications that rank in the top 1% by citations for field and publication year in the Web of Science citation index. Scientists listed are many times mentioned to be the World’s Most Influential Scientific Minds.
